CLEARFIELD – It was announced on Tuesday that Central PA Community Action is facing another budget cut from the state.

Stacy Locastro made the announcement at the Clearfield County Commissioners meeting. According to Locastro the Human Services Development Fund is taking a 13.9 percent cut, which equates to about $25,000.

“It was determined to make the cut across the board,” said Locastro, who added that the cuts are statewide.

In December she informed the Clearfield County Commissioners that their Human Services Development contract has recently had cuts. She said the program, and its sub-programs took a 13 percent cut. Last year the HSDF contract received roughly $206,000 in state funding; this year it will receive $181,633.

Locastro said the programs provided under HSDF help to keep residents in their homes and include food services and homemaker services. She stressed that the food service was not the same as Meals on Wheels.

Another CPCA program to take a hit is the Housing Assistance Program. Locastro said this program is taking about a $700 cut. She added that this program has a smaller number of people who use it than in other counties.
