PHILIPSBURG – Cpl. Joseph C. Cigich, of the Philipsburg State Police, announced they have a crime prevention initiative under way.
Cigich said he urges the public to verify the legitimacy of any organization, collecting donations for the Haiti relief effort.
Cigich said residents with plans to donate shouldn’t release any personal, financial information by telephone or online to organizations without first confirming its legality.
“Once you have released your financial information, your account(s) could be depleted in the matter of seconds,” he said.
