Grampian Man Loses Life in Automobile Accident

BLOOM TOWNSHIP – Pennsylvania State Police in DuBois reported a fatal accident that occurred at 5:25 Tuesday morning along US Route 219 on Chestnut Grove Highway in Bloom Township.

Donald Zorger, 77 of Grampian, was pronounced dead after the 2000 Ford Ranger he was driving struck a tree head-on. Zorger, along with his passenger, Alma Zorger, 76, were traveling northbound on US Route 219 when they crossed over into the southbound lane, continued off the roadway, hitting a tree. After hitting the tree the vehicle spun 360 degrees, coming to a stop facing northeast, partially blocking the southbound lane.

The road was closed for 1-½ hours. Police were assisted by Brady Township Fire Department, DuBois EMS, Grampian Fire, Fire Police, and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

Neither the driver of passenger was wearing seatbelts. Donald Zorger was pronounced dead at the scene. Alma Zorger was transported to DuBois Regional Medical Center for treatment of her injuries.
