Two Local Recreation Grants Awarded

HARRISBURG, Jan. 19 – State Rep. Camille “Bud George, D-74 of Houtzdale, said recreation grants totaling $65,000 have been approved for two projects in Clearfield County.

“The Community Conservation Partnerships Program grants provide financial and technical assistance to local governments, river and trail organizations and other non-profits for a variety of recreation and conservation projects,” George said. “The 2010 application window is now open for eligible groups.”

Local projects approved for CCPP funding are:
-Clearfield County, $25,000, to develop a Curwensville Lake Authority Master site plan for the 362-acre lake and park in Pike Township;
-Decatur Township, $40,000 for further development of Fairview Park to include construction of a basketball court and parking area; installation of utilities, lighting and fencing; and landscaping and disability access improvements.

Applications for 2010 CCPP grants, administered by the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, will be accepted until April 21. All grant applications must be submitted online through the Environmental eGrants System.
