CASD Board of Directors Seeks Volunteers for Feasibility Study

CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Area School District Board of Directors are looking for volunteers to sit on a feasibility study committee for facilities.

The following is a letter issued to the press for the public’s consideration:

To the CASD Community:

The Board of Directors of the Clearfield Area School District (CASD) has engaged HHSDR Architects and Engineers to conduct a second District-wide facilities study. The decision is comparable to getting a “second opinion” from a doctor and will give the Board the option of weighing and considering the independent findings from the HHSDR study with work done to date by Crabtree, Rohrbaugh and Associates.

The Board’s action is prudent given the importance of making the right decisions regarding needed District facilities renovations and the associated costs of these undertakings. Further, it is crucial to have community members as part of the feasibility study committee, individuals who are willing to spend a considerable amount of time reviewing the findings, gathering community input and ultimately making final recommendations from a list of multiple renovation options. Please note that I anticipate committee meetings will occur in the evenings and possibly on Saturdays.

At this time, the CASD Board of Directors is seeking interested individuals—business representatives, parents and other community leaders—to serve on the feasibility study committee with Board members, District administrators, faculty and staff. If you are interested in serving on the feasibility study committee, please submit a letter of interest to Dr. Richard C. Makin, Superintendent, Clearfield Area School District, 438 River Rd, Clearfield, PA 16830.

In your letter, briefly describe your background and include your address and preferred means for contacting you. The due date for applications is Jan. 20.

There is no doubt as to the need for District-wide building renovations, and it is critical that the right decisions be made. Thank you in advance for your consideration of this request—serving on the feasibility study committee is an important responsibility as we look to the future of the CASD.
