CLEARFIELD – Salaries, salary increases, and appointments were discussed at Monday night’s Lawrence Township reorganization meeting.
Bill Lawhead was appointed as the chairman for 2010 while Glenn Johnston was appointed as vice chair. Barb Shaffner was reappointed as the secretary/treasurer with a three percent pay increase. Her wages were increased from $15 per hour to $15.45 per hour. Her meeting pay and holidays were set to be the same as the road crew.
Zach Lawhead was reappointed as the Code Enforcement Officer for 2010. His wages also saw a three percent increase, which raised them from $11.85 per hour to $12.20 per hour. He was also voted to be maintained as the maintenance person at a rate of $7.25 per hour to fire the furnace and $10.00 per hour for maintenance work.
James Naddeo was reappointed the township solicitor with a retainer remaining at $1,100 per month. Kim Kesner was retained as the solicitor for the zoning hearing board.
Jeff Fink was reappointed as the police chief as per his contract. He is paid $22.14 per hour as outlined in his contract. Glenn Johnston was appointed the police liason by the board. Heather Olson was reappointed as the receptionist for the police department with her wages increasing at three percent, from $8.49 to $$8.74 per hour. Her holidays were set the same as the road crew.
The board motioned to reappoint Lisa Humberson as the animal control officer. She also saw a three percent pay increase, taking her pay from $371.23 per month to $382.37 per month. JoAnn Graham was reappointed as the school crossing guard. Johnston made a motion to reappoint her with a three percent pay increase, stating that it would be difficult to hire another person at her current set wage of $8.24 per hour for roughly two hours per day.
Shaffner was reappointed as the chief administrative officer for the general employees pension and the police pension plan. Kelly McCracken was reappointed as the township tax collector at a three percent commission.
The treasurers bond was set at $300,000. Taxes were reenacted as follows:
Real Estate – 18 Mills
Wage Tax – half of one percent
Local Service Tax – $52.00 per year
Real Estate Transfer – half of one percent
Amusement Tax – $50 for the first machine and $25 for each additional machine.
Walter Hopkins was retained as the auditors while Stiffler McGraw & Associates were retained as the engineers per prior agreement. Jack Woolridge was reappointed to the vacancy board.
In new business, Zach Lawhead, the code enforcement officer, stated the next zoning board meeting would be held on Jan. 12 at 1:00 p.m. The board also set their meetings for the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 7:00 p.m.
