PHILIPSBURG – Police are investigating an aggravated assault that took place in Philipsburg.
According to the police the incident occurred on Jan. 2 at a residence on Presqueisle Street. A person knocked on the resident’s door. The resident answered and reportedly punched the 35-year-old on the nose. The man who knocked the door fell down on the porch and was then kicked repeatedly in the face. Police said the man was also struck with a shovel. He was able to get to his feet and flee the scene. He then contacted police.
Police said the 35-year-old man suffered a broken nose and numerous lacerations and bruises on his face, head and neck.
Police are following leads and the investigation is ongoing.
