WINGATE – Jayme Ryan, Madison Sopic and Angela Moore reached double figures in a balanced offensive display that enabled Clearfield to roll past Jersey Shore 74-40 in the first round of the Bald Eagle Area Girls Basketball Holiday Tournament Monday.
Coach Joey Castagnolo\’s Lady Bisons (2-0) will return today for the 6 p.m. championship game against Bald Eagle Area (3-4). The host Lady Eagles advanced with a 50-22 victory over Moshannon Valley (1-4).
Ryan canned five three-pointers en route to a game-high 17 points. Sopic followed with 14 and Moore, who hit a pair of treys, tallied 10.
Two other Lady Bisons just missed double figures, Amber Byerly keying the inside game with nine points and point guard Gwenn Porter chipping in with eight.
Vanessa Martin led the Lady Bulldogs (0-6) with 10 points.
Clearfield opened a 21-9 lead in the first quarter and was on cruise control at 41-14 at halftime.
The Lady Bisons jayvees also are 2-0 after posting a 55-40 victory behind 14 points by Breanna Peters.
