HARRISBURG, Dec. 29 – State Rep. Camille “Bud” George, D-74 of Houtzdale, is reminding residents that now is the time to apply for summer employment as a seasonal worker with the state Department of Transportation.
“The summer hiring program is geared toward, but not limited to, college students,” George said. “The workers typically augment regular PennDOT crews on maintenance projects throughout the county.”
This year, candidates must apply online under the “Student Summer Employment” in the Non-Civil Service Job Opportunities section.
“Applications should be filed now because PennDOT is required to conduct reference checks,” George said. “The jobs can begin as early as April 1 and can last throughout the summer.”
Student candidates must be 18 and be enrolled in college for the fall 2010 semester.
