On Friday a fire struck at the heart of the DuBois community, killing two and leaving others injured. Another victim in that fire was the DuBois Food Bank.

Sunny 106 Accepting Donations to Replenish Food Pantry
In addition to losing six to seven apartments displacing a number of residents, the food pantry was located in the basement of the building and sustained water damage. According to officials, the Christmas distribution had already been complete and the next one is schedule for the Dec. 31. Sunny 106 and News Talk Radio WCED are accepting donations to fill up our vault and replenish the food supply for the holidays. Items such as canned goods, baking supplies, pasta, canned meat and miscellaneous items are all needed. For a complete list, log on our website at sunny 1065.fm. You can also make a monetary donation or drop off a gift card. All items can be brought to 12 West Long Avenue in DuBois Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The Red Cross is providing financial support to the individuals and families affected by Friday’s fire. This financial support is based on the needs of our clients and can include shelter, food, clothing, medical supplies, pre scri ptions, and other necessities. We also work with others to coordinate donations of other items including used clothing, furniture, appliances, and finding permanent housing.
