DUBOIS – A late-night fire destroyed a home in Treasure Lake on Sunday.
According to Bob Wilson, Sandy Township fire chief, responders were called out to a fire at 73 Rum Point Court around 11:21 p.m. for a structure fire. Wilson said that no one was home at the time of the fire and that when firefighters arrive the building was collapsing into the basement.
The cause of the fire is under investigation and a state police fire marshal was the scene this morning.
The structure, owned by Jason Whitaker, is a total loss. The Treasure Lake Property Owner’s Association maintenance department ashed the road due to freezing water.
“Everyone did a good job and I want to thank everyone who helped,” said Wilson.
Responding departments included: All Sandy Township units, JE DuBois, Fire Company, Falls Creek Fire Company and stand-by included Union Township and Sykesville. The DuBois Chapter of the American Red Cross was on scene at the Treasure Lake fire on Sunday morning. The chapter provides assistance to the family to meet their emergency needs and also food and drinks for the emergency response personnel on scene. The Sandy Township Police Department also assisted at the scene.
