Philipsburg Man Loses Life in Fatal Accident

RUSH TOWNSHIP – State police in Philipsburg responded to a two vehicle, fatal accident along state Route 350 near Fire Tower Road in Rush Township.

Ryan E. Bell, 26 of Philipsburg, was traveling north on SR 350 when he swerved his 1998 Saturn Coupe over the center line as if to pass the tractor trailer. Bell swerved back into the north bound lane and then swerved to the left, crossing the center line into oncoming traffic, where he hit the 2007 International 4300 box truck driven by Robert E. Potts, 44 of Hollidaysburg.

After hitting the truck, the Saturn spun around and went off the west berm, subsequently hitting a tree. Evidence observed at the scene of the accident was consistent with witness statements.

Bell was pronounced dead at the scene by Centre County Coroner Judy Pleskonko at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday 

The state police were assisted by Mountain Top Fire Company, Mountain Top Ambulance, Moshannon Valley Emergency Medical Service, Osceola Mills Fire Company, Bald Eagle Fire Company, and PennDOT.

Due to the accident, the northbound and southbound lanes of SR 350 were closed. They were repoened at 8:27 p.m.
