Clearfield Borough Council Considers Helping Tennis Team

CLEARFIELD – On Thursday members of Clearfield Borough Council heard a plea to help an area sports team stay active.

Borough Operations Manager Leslie Stott informed council that she heard from Clearfield Area School District Athletics Director Jon Mikesell concerning the high school’s tennis program. Stott said she was informed that due to the condition of the high school’s tennis court the high school tennis team is looking for a place to practice. She said she was asked if it was possible for the team to practice at the tennis facilities at the driving park.

Stott said the team has scheduled all of their matches at the opposing teams’ facilities and would only practice on the borough’s courts. She said they are requesting to use the courts between March and May of 2010, from roughly 3:30 through 5:30.

“If the borough does not permit this, there will not be a tennis program,” said Stott.

The topic will be considered at council’s regular meeting on Thursday.
