Home Gardening Seminar at Clearfield Penn State Cooperative Extension

CLEARFIELD – Clearfield Center for Active Living in partnership with the Penn State Cooperative Extension is offering a new series of programs aimed at the home gardener. Whether gardening is a passion, pastime, or craft, the Garden Group offers area residents the opportunity to learn and share information about its various aspects.

The first seminar is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Nov. 12, in Room 131 of the Multi-Service Center, 650 Leonard St., Clearfield. Mr. Tom Butzler, Horticulturist from the Penn State Cooperative Extension Office in Clinton County, will discuss autumn gardening topics such as plant propagation, fall planting, mulching, and soil testing. Soil test kits will be available on the evening of the forum.

Future Garden Group topics may include seed starting, organic gardening, pest management, gardening on a shoestring, new tree and shrub planting, and more. In addition, a number of field trips, on-site visits and demonstrations are in the planning for 2010. Questions or additional topics of interest requests may be directed to the Clearfield Center for Active Living at 765-9319 or 800-225-8571. There are no reservations needed for the Garden Group forum.

Programs and services of the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging, Inc. are funded in part by the Pennsylvania Department of Aging, the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging, Inc., Mature Resources Foundation, and local and client contributions.
