Firefighter Dies in Line of Duty

WESTOVER – The Westover Area Fire Department has announced the death of Lt. Roy E. Westover, Jr., who died in the line of duty.

Westover responded to a reported structure fire in Clearfield County early Saturday morning. He complained about not feeling well and was treated at the scene, according to a press release issued by the fire department.

It also stated that as a result, he was transported to Miners Hospital, Cambria County. At arrival, he suffered from an unknown medical emergency and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Westover had been a member of the fire department for 28 years. He had served as a lieutenant for the last year. He is survived by three sons, Seth, Jordon and Collin, all of Westover. He is also survived by his father, Roy, Sr., his mother, Mary, four sisters and a brother, all of Westover, according to the press release.

Funeral arrangements are currently pending and will be announced by the fire department.
