CLEARFIELD – The Wal-Mart Foundation states, “In all of our giving efforts, we strive to meet the unmet needs of under-served populations and support organizations that give individuals access to a better life.” The local Wal-Mart Distribution Center #6027, located in Woodland, PA, felt that the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging, Inc.’s (CCAAA) Blizzard Box Program addressed one of these unmet needs.
Brian Rosenberger, General Manager for the Clearfield distribution center, submitted an application to Wal-Mart Corporate Headquarters for grant funds. Upon receipt of the funds, Mr. Rosenberger presented the CCAAA, Inc. with a $2,000 donation for their Blizzard Box program.
Every year, the CCAAA sends emergency Blizzard Box meals to homebound older citizens throughout the county. Consumers are encouraged to keep the meals on their shelf for stormy winter days when the Agency can’t deliver a hot meal. Since 1983, local Rotary Clubs, individuals, and businesses have pulled together with the CCAAA to fund this valuable program. One hundred percent of all donations are used for this program to ensure that homebound older citizens have something nutritious to eat during severe winter weather.
Thanks to Wal-Mart Distribution Center #6027 along with the generous support of local businesses and individuals, these non-perishable meals provide a sense of security for Meals on Wheels & More consumers who know they will have something to eat on those difficult winter days.
