Three Firefighters Injured in Firetruck Accident

CURWENSVILLE – Three Firefighters from the Grampian-Penn-Bloom Volunteer Fire Department were injured in the line of duty early Saturday morning.

According to Chief Justin Bickel, at 3:46 a.m. Station 9 was called to a structure fire to assist Curwensville Rescue Hose and Ladder Company Station 8. The fire was on Hemlock Hollow Road in Pike Townshi.

While Station 9 was responding to the call they’re main truck was involved in an accident at around 4:07 a.m. Six firefighters riding in the truck were transported to Clearfield Hospital by Curwensville Ambulance Service for evaluation. Three of the six suffere minor injuries. The truck was severely damaged.

Station 9 was assisted at the scene by Station 8 and Clearfield County Emergency Management Agency. Station 9 is working with its insurance company to determine a cost estimate of the damage sustained to the truck and its equipment.
