DUBOIS – A DuBois man charged with sexual abuse of children waives his right to a preliminary hearing on Friday in DuBois.
Steven Cable of DuBois faces charges relating to possession child pornography
According to the affidavit of probable cause, files and videos of young females and child pornography were first discovered on Cables computer by a person who was staying with him overnight on Dec 18, 2008. Unable to get to sleep or work the television she decided to get on his computer and look around in folders. She did not tell Cable she had done this, nor did she go to the police.
According to the woman, Cable later, at an unspecified date, sent her a video through email of a man having sex with 7-year-old. There were other remarks included in the email with the video about the act. The woman then went to the police identifying the man in the video as Cable.
Cable was interviewed by police and his computer confiscated on Jan 9. According to the affidavit Cable began the interview confessing he had images of underage girls. These images and videos were deleted before police confiscated the computer. Cable told police there were 75 to 100 videos and images of girls between 14 and 17-years-old and an additional 35 of girls, ages 7 to 10-years-old.
Both the Cable’s guest and Cable had signed written statements.
The computer was taken to the Pennsylvania State Police in Punxsutawney for forensic analysis to see if any of the deleted images could be recovered for evidence on Jan 15. The analysis was completed by July 1, recovering 40 images of adult men having sex with girls ranging from infants to pre-adolescence.
