Clarion University Wins Top National Awards for Television Commercial

CLARION – Clarion University recently received two national awards – Hermes Award and Videographer Award – for its television commercial used for marketing.

The commercial was developed under the direction of Ron Wilshire, assistant vice president of university relations, and produced by Orrico & Wagner Advertising & Marketing for Clarion University’s marketing and recruitment campaign and aired during 2008-09 in the Pittsburgh and Erie markets. The commercial featured Clarion’s new branding, “Together We Can.”

The Gold Award presented as part of the Hermes Award competition recognizes outstanding work in the industry in a competition for creative professionals involved in the concept, writing, and design of traditional and emerging media.

There were over 3,700 entrants in this year’s competition from across the U.S. and several other countries. Entrants range from corporate marketing firms, communication departments, advertising agencies, PR firms, design shops, production companies and freelancers.

The Gold Award is awarded in each of 142 categories in seven forms of media and communication efforts: advertising, publications, marketing/branding, integrated marketing, public relations/communications, electronic media, and pro bono. The award is given to companies or individuals whose talent exceeds a high standard of excellence and whose work serves as a benchmark for the industry.

The Hermes Awards is administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals, an international organization of several thousand marketing, communication, advertising, public relations, media production and free-lance professionals.

Clarion’s commercial also won a top Award of Excellence winner in the national Videographer Award competition. The Videographer Award is one of the most coveted awards in the video industry. There were over 1,800 entrants in this year’s competition from across the U.S. and several other countries. Entrants range from network television to local cable, from large production companies to freelancers, from international advertising agencies to student producers. The Award of Excellence is awarded in each of 166 categories and those projects deemed to be written, produced, shot and/or edited in an exceptional manner and exceed industry standards.

The Videographer Awards is administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals, an international organization of several thousand marketing, communication, advertising, public relations, media production and free-lance professionals.
