CLEARFIELD – Area drivers will encounter delays this week, as grading and paving work takes place on the new Susquehanna River bridge project along state Route 879 (Clearfield/Curwensville highway) in Lawrence Township.
PennDOT’s schedule is now set from Sept. 29 through early morning hours of Oct. 2. During that time, drivers will encounter lane restrictions and flaggers on the roadway 24-hours a day. Drivers should expect longer delays than usual and should allow for extra travel time. All work is schedule and weather dependent. PennDOT still expects to open the new bridge to traffic on Monday, October 5. Once the new bridge is open, crews will remove the temporary bridge. Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. of State College is the contractor on this $8.4 million replacement project.
