Clearfield Borough Council Dealing with Legal Issues

CLEARFIELD – On Thursday Clearfield Borough Council read a statement regarding a discrimination suit.

It was reported in August that Clearfield Borough Council was facing a discrimination lawsuit by Borough Police Officer Michael Titus. The suit was filed through the Equal Opportunity Commission.

Borough Operations Manager Leslie Stott read a statement on behalf of council, acknowledging that council has received the complaint and they are investigating the charges. Stott said that thus far they have found no evidence to justify the charges.

Regarding another lawsuit filed against council by Mayor Patty Gilliland, council approved a legal expenditure to Solicitor Kim Kesner $2,687.50; of that, $1,525 is due to the issue between Gilliland and council. To date, council has spent a total of $4,862.50 to deal with the suit.
