Community Pet Blessing at St. Francis

CLEARFIELD – The annual Blessing of the Animals at St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield, is set for 3 p.m. on Oct. 4, when the community will gather to celebrate the pets in their lives and help the Clearfield County SPCA, too.

Msgr. H. Desmond McGee Jr. will officiate at the brief service, which will be held in the church parking lot and conclude with an individual blessing for each animal, organizers said.

The event is held each year in memory of the late Lisa Natoli, a Clearfield woman who had a deep love of animals and was an enthusiastic supporter of the CCSPCA.

Participants are asked to bring a donation of items or money for the CCSPCA. The contributions will also be blessed and then transported to the shelter by members of the church.

For those who wish to donate but will be unable to attend the blessing, items or funds can be dropped off at Waggin’ Trains pet supply store on South Second Street, Clearfield, between Curves and C Classic Dodge, until Oct. 3.

The CCSPCA’s wish list includes: clay cat litter, paper plates, paper towels, bleach, laundry detergent, trash bags (13 and 33-gallons), disposable gloves, postage stamps, dog and cat toys, rugs and towels and small, hard plastic food and water bowls.
