DUBOIS – The Penn State DuBois Student Life Office announces these Cultural Events for the Fall, 2009 semester. All Cultural Events are free and open to the public.

Snakes Alive!
Tuesday, September 29, 2009
7:00 p.m., Hiller Auditorium

Snakes Alive is a National Touring Program that offers an exciting, hands-on, educational experience! With a wide variety of live animals, Snakes Alive lets you interact “up close and personal” to discover firsthand the fascinating world of reptiles. Learn their role in nature and caring for them in captivity as Herpetologist, Tom Kessenich lets you touch, hold and even talk to his friendly “critters”.

Andes Manta

This vibrant and powerful music continues to be played from Colombia to Tierra del Fuego, and none play it better than the four Lopez brothers who make up Andes Manta. Fernando, Luis, Bolivar and Jorge bring this unique art form to North America in its purest and most authentic form. Natives of the Ecuadorian Andes, the brothers learned their traditional folk music as it has been learned for thousands of years – passed from father to son, and brother to brother.

Piscataway Indian Nation

7:00 p.m., Multipurpose Building Gymnasium

Famous for their internationally recognized living history program, the Piscataway Indian Nation Signers and Dancers from the Tyac Territory in Maryland educate and entertain audiences who want to learn more about Native American history, culture and contemporary issues.

They are routinely featured at national pow-wows, major festivals and college campuses across the country.

Colonial Christmas

7:00 p.m., Hiller Auditorium

The performance will consist of carols and tunes from the 18th century and popular dances of the period. The audience will enjoy other holiday songs as well as some classical compositions. The performance contains faculty, staff, and students from Penn State DuBois.
