BCI Municipal Authority Awarded $175,000 for Waterline Work

HARRISBURG – State Rep. Camille “Bud” George, D-74 of Houtzdale, said that the Beccaria-Coalport-Irvona Municipal Authority has been awarded $175,000 for waterline extension work in the Village of Tubbs Crossing, Bigler Twp.

“The pass-through grant from the state Department of Environmental Protection reimburses the authority for piping materials and bedding stone used for the waterline extension,” George said. “The municipal water will replace private water supplies that have been degraded from discharges from mines abandoned more than 35 years ago.”

The municipal authority is providing the labor, equipment, maintenance and easement work for the extension at no cost to the DEP.

George noted that the BCI Municipal Authority in July won approval of a $547,750 grant through Pennsylvania’s H20 PA Water program to extend waterlines in Glen Hope Borough and Bigler and Beccaria Townships.
