Sinnemahoning State Park Announces Events for Aug. 28-30

Friday, Aug. 28

8 p.ml -“Wild Critters in PA” – Come and join our guest speaker, Bill Clifton, as he highlights some of our native PA wildlife going about their daily life activities, including interesting and little known facts about some species. Meet at the campground amphitheater.

Saturday, Aug. 29

9 – 10 a.m. – “Red Spruce Trail Hike” – Come and join as we get out and exercise both legs and eyes! Join the park naturalist for a hike along the Red Spruce Trail through unique forest habitats and along outstanding wetland areas. Binoculars and field guides will be provided. Meet at the campground amphitheater. This easy hike is approximately one mile long, and is mostly level. Water, insect repellent, and sunscreen are recommended. 4 p.m. – “Afternoon Adventures” – Connect to the outdoors and nature on our afternoon adventure. Meet the park naturalist at the campground amphitheater and join us for a short butterfly hike. Hiking shoes, water and insect repellent are recommended.

8:30 p.m. – “PA Native Wildflowers of Forest and Field” – Join our guest speaker, Bill Clifton, at the campground amphitheater as we explore our native wildflowers through the seasons. We will explore the role of wildflowers in our natural ecosystems. Hear some interesting and little known facts about some species; including flowers of some tree species.

Sunday, Aug. 30

Rides at 12 p.m., 1:30p.m. and 3 p.m. – “Pontoon Boat Excursion” – Enjoy a relaxing and scenic 45 minute tour of the dam as we explore wetlands and the Bald Eagles.

Our pontoon boat has 18 available seats. Reservations will be taken by calling the park office. You may also sign up in person at the park office until noon. Afterwards, reservations will be taken at the Eagle Watchers Tent at the boat launching area.

Please be at the boat launching area 5 minutes prior to departure or forfeit your space. For more information on tour dates and prices, call the park office at (814) 647-8401.
