Two Airlifted Following ATV Accident

GREENWOOD TOWNSHIP – Two Clearfield adults were airlifted to the Altoona Regional Hospital for treatment of moderate injuries following an all terrain vehicle accident at approximately 4 p.m. Saturday in Greenwood Township, Clearfield County.

According to the police report, a 35-year-old Clearfield man and his passenger, a 37-year-old Clearfield woman were traveling south on Sugar Camp Road near its intersection with Curry Run Road. He lost control of the ATV for unknown reasons, and it traveled off the west side of the roadway as a result. The ATV then traveled up an embankment and overturned. Both were subsequently ejected from the vehicle.

Police indicated that alcohol was a suspected factor in the accident. They stated blood was obtained from the man in order to determine his blood alcohol content level. Charges of DUI and other traffic violations will be pending the blood test results.

Police were assisted at the scene by the Mahaffey Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services, Clearfield Emergency Medical Services and STAT MED/VAC.
