RUSH TOWNSHIP – A 21-year-old Pittsburgh man was transported to the Altoona Hospital after a single vehicle accident Saturday night in Rush Township, Centre County.
According to the police report, the man was traveling westbound on United States Route 322 Port Matilda Highway. He passed another vehicle in the eastbound lane and continued to travel in the same for approximately a half mile. He then approached an oncoming vehicle and swerved back into the westbound lane. He lost control of his Toyota Camary UEX.
Police indicated that the man’s vehicle fishtailed back into the eastbound lane and struck an embankment on the south side of the roadway. After impact, his vehicle overturned multiple times. He was not wearing his safety belt at the time of the accident and subsequently ejected from the rear window of the vehicle. His vehicle continued to overturn and landed on top of him.
On scene, troopers and witnesses were able to move the vehicle enough and remove the man from underneath. Police stated that he was transported to the Altoona Hospital for treatment of his injuries. Police, however, did not note the severity of those injuries.
Police were assisted at the scene by the Port Matilda Emergency Medical Services, Hope Volunteer Fire Company, Reliance Volunteer Fire Company, Moshannon Valley Emergency Medical Services and Price Parkway Towing.
Police stated that the man will face multiple traffic citations.
