BioEnergy to Outline Hiring Process at Press Conference on Friday

CLEARFIELD – A press conference will be held on Friday to outline the hiring process at an ethanol plant that’s under construction in Clearfield Borough.

According to a press release from state Rep. Camille “Bud” George, D-74 Houtzdale, officials from BioEnergy LLC and George will outline the hiring process for 55 new full-time jobs at Pennsylvania first ethanol plant and one of the nation’s largest.

Officials of BioEnergy International LLC will announce the hiring process for jobs at the plant. According to the press release construction of the 100-million-gallon-year, corn-based, ethanol plant is entering its final phases. Construction is expected to be completed in January 2010, with production to begin soon thereafter. The plant will have one of the largest outputs east of the Mississippi and among the top 10 in the nation.

BioEnergy, a privately held science and technology company based in Quincy, MA., broke ground for the $270 million biorefinery in February 2008 after receiving financial assistance and support from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania through the offices of Gov. Edward G. Rendell and George. About 300 construction jobs, utilizing multiple Clearfield-area companies, have been created at the site. As many as 300 ancillary jobs will be created once the plant is in production.

According to George’s press release more full-time jobs are anticipated in conjunction with additional innovative technologies under consideration, including cellulosic technologies for advanced biofuels using locally produced organic wastes, such as wood and agricultural waste. BioEnergy is leading the development and commercialization of next generation biorefineries for the production of high-value bio-based chemicals and fuels from renewable feedstock, through the use of its proprietary biocatalyst technology. More information is available here and here.

According to the Clearfield County Commissioners at their Tuesday meeting, the event is open to the public.

The press conference is being held at 9 a.m. at the plant site along US Route 322.
