AG Announces Arrest of Indiana Women in Heroin Investigation

HARRISBURG – Attorney General Tom Corbett announced that an Indiana County woman was arrested for allegedly dealing significant quantities of heroin.

Corbett identified the defendant as Louann Uber, 46, Indiana. She worked as an intake supervisor at an alcohol and drug treatment center.

According to the investigation, Uber was a mid-level dealer capable of moving multiple-brick quantities of heroin. A brick of heroin contains 50 bags and one bag has a street value of about $25.

Corbett said that agents arranged a series of controlled purchases with Uber. These buys were in brick quantities and had a total street value of more than $8,600.

“Like many Pennsylvania small towns, an influx of drugs and drug related activity can cause serious quality of life issues for residents,” Corbett said. “This investigation targeted the problem head on and we have put a stop to a significant player in the Indiana County area heroin trade.”

Uber is charged with two counts of delivery of heroin, two counts of possession with intent to deliver heroin, two counts of possession of heroin and one count of criminal use of a communication facility.

Uber was preliminarily arraigned today before Indiana County Magisterial District Judge Guy Heberl and bail was set at $60,000. She will be prosecuted by Indiana County District Attorney Thomas Bianco’s office.

Corbett thanked Indiana County District Attorney Thomas Bianco’s office, the Indiana Borough Police Department and the Indiana County Drug Task Force for their assistance in this investigation. He noted that the investigation is ongoing.
