CLEARFIELD – The June meeting of the Clear-Penn Chapter of the International Association of Administrative Professionals was on June 9 at the Elk’s Lodge in Clearfield. After a brief business meeting and dinner, the new officers for 2009-2010 were installed. The new officers are as follows: Melissa Billotte, President, Cathie Hugar, Secretary, and Peggy Rhone, Treasurer.
Networking, leadership, and education are just some of the benefits offered through IAAP. Areas in which administrative professionals’ responsibilities have grown are office management, information coordination and supervision, along with travel planning, meeting planning, project management, and online purchasing. Budget development and expense tracking are frequently handled by administrative staff. As a member of IAAP, you will have opportunities to increase these skills, as well as others. Please visit the Clear-Penn Chapter Web page for more information.
IAAP is continuing to collect used cell phones for their “Cell Phones for Soldiers” drive. Local drop-off points include the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging in Clearfield; Gleason, Cherry, and Cherry in DuBois; The Phone Guys in Clearfield and DuBois; and Goodman’s IGA Foodliner in Curwensville. The cell phones are recycled for cash and the proceeds are used to buy prepaid calling cards for our soldiers serving in the Middle East. So far, members have collected over 300 phones.
If you are interested in becoming a member of IAAP and would like to attend future meetings, please call Alice Gill at 236-2443 to make your reservation. Dinner is $12 and payable the night of the meeting. Guests are always welcome. The regular July and August meetings will be chapter picnics. Please check the website for details.
