Heritage Days Attendees Check Out Health Fair

PHILIPSBURG – The health conscience or merely curious could visit a health fair Saturday.

Camped out within the Rowland Theatre at Philipsburg’s Heritage Days the health fair was the product of three groups: Geisinger Medical Group, Clearfield Hospital and Comfort Keepers.

Outside the theater was a pediatric section with some games for children. Inside the theater a variety of tests were available.

“We have a really good turn out year after year,” said Susan Baranik, Public Relations and Marketing with Geisinger Medical Group.

Tests such as body mass index and blood pressure made a return on the Geisinger end of the fair. The Clearfield Hospital checked oxygen saturation and lung volume. This was also the first year for glucose testing. A special license is needed for testing glucose at off site locations such as a fair instead of a health center.

“It’s just something we offer the community,” said Baranik.

This was the health fair’s second year in the Rowland Theatre, and fourth under the control of Geisinger Medical Group. Before Geisinger the fair was operated by the Philipsburgh Hospital.
