Watermelon Eating Contest Fun for the Whole Family at Heritage Days

PHILIPSBURG – With the number of watermelons at Heritage Days, a passer-by might have assumed that comedian/prop comic Gallagher was getting ready to perform.

That was not the case.

Wednesday night marked the return of the Watermelon Eating Contest at Philipsburg Heritage Days. Kids of all ages took part in the event, with the top three in each category winning medals.

The winners are as follows:

Under 4: 1st – Matayha Kerin, 4, of Hawk Run

2nd – Oliver Harpster, 4, of Philipsburg

3rd — Brandon Hahn, 4, of Phililpsburg

5-7 years

1st – Leilani Harpster, 6, of Philipsburg

2nd – Mya McElhinney, 5, of State College

3rd – Gabe Dyke, 5, of Philipsburg

8-10 years

1st – Karly Good, 9, of Philipsburg

2nd – Brady Ridgley, 10, of Phililpsburg

3rd – Keegan Perks, 8, of Philipsburg

11-13 years

1st – Audrey Wowrynovic, 13, of Philipsburg

2nd – Rachel Little, 11, of Morrisdale

3rd – Thomas Kelley, 12, of Osceola Mills

Over 13

1st — Sarah Chorle of Philipsburg

2nd – Brittany High of West Decatur

3rd – Gina Maruschak of Philipsburg
