CLEARFIELD – Work on the state Route 879 Susquehanna Bridge replacement will hit a new phase next week, as crews work to set beams for the new structure. The work zone is located on SR 879 along the Clearfield/Curwensville highway in Lawrence Township.
Beam work will take place on July 6, 7 and 8. Motorists can expect delays along SR 879 as beams are lifted and set into place. No traffic will be allowed across the temporary bridge during beam setting activity. Signs are in place today to alert drivers to the upcoming work and travel delays.
Glenn.O. Hawbaker, Inc. of State College is the contractor on this $8.4 million dollar replacement project.
PennDOT expects the new bridge to open to traffic by the end of September. All work is weather dependent.
