CLEARFIELD – Before the start of the May meeting of the Clearfield Volunteer Fire Department, there was a special presentation from Beverly Swift, aka ” The Mooley Lady “.
Swift had been the treasurer in charge of the “Save Old Mooley Fund” that was founded July 2005. The Committee that consisted of Fred Wisor, Beverly Swift, Barbara Shaffner, Dave Hallstrom, John M. Williams, Gary Wigfield, Nick Sabanosh, Courtney Kubista, Jim Semelsberger, and Jeff Corcino.
A decision had been made that the funds raised in the past were to be handed over to Clearfield Volunteer Fire Department to be held and used only for future repairs of Mooley.
Swift at the meeting presented a check in the amount of $ 3,051.49 to Dave Hallstrom, Clearfield Volunteer Fire Department Treasurer, with a round of applause and thank you’s from the members present.
Many individuals, bussinesses of Clearfield, as well as out of town and state persons recognized the need and donated to the fund, in which we are grateful to all who thought this was a part of history that needed to be restored.
The Clearfield Volunteer Fire Department and the community would like to express a Big Thank You to Swift and the Committee for all their hard work and dedication in the previous years.
The greatest thrill to everyone involved and the community was New Year’s Eve, on Dec. 31, 2005 at midnight when Mooley blew for the first time in quite awhile, a sound that every fireman knows what it means when “Mooley Blows”.
