DUBOIS – The brothers Bill, also known as Kachunga, and Dave arrived from Florida to Community Days bringing guests. These guests were a couple of alligators.
Bill, also known as Kachunga, wrestled their 8 foot, 200 pound alligator as Dave narrated. According to Dave the act began not as the often billed alligator wrestling, but twenty years ago as school to school educational program on the the lizards.
The duo explained that in the wild alligators normally only attack people for three reasons. Other than these three they usually will leave humans alone. The reasons were:
- A female alligator who is near her nest
- A territorial male alligator, which is usually eight feet or larger.
- An alligator who has been feed repeatedly by humans in the past.
Kachunga entertained those less interested in education by messing around with their larger alligator. This including provoking it with a stick, sticking his hand within the alligator’s mouth and ending with holding the alligator’s mouth closed with only his chin and chest.
