Clearfield Borough Police Department Warns of Scam

CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Borough Police Department are warning residents not to give out personal information over the phone.

Previously police issued a warning after two complaints about a credit card scam in the area. The scam continues as police are still receiving similar complaints.

The scam involves a call, usually a woman, asking of the credit card owner would like a lower interest rate on their credit card. During the course of the call the scammer asks the card owner to release their credit card number and other personal information.

Police advise residents not to give any personal information away over the telephone.
