Benefit Dinner Being Held to Support Cancer Support Groups

CLEARFIELD – A spaghetti dinner will be held May 29 at the Clearfield Presbyterian Church, 119 N. Second St., Clearfield, from 4 to 7 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the cancer support groups at the Nathaniel D. Yingling, M.D., Cancer Center.

Dinner will include spaghetti and meatballs, roll, dessert, coffee, lemonade and iced tea. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under; take-out is available.

Tickets may be purchased ahead of time at the cancer center, located on the Clearfield Hospital campus, by calling 768-2132 or by e-mailing courtneyspencer@gmail.com. Tickets will also be sold at the Clearfield Mall on May 16, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

A limited number of tickets will be available at the door.

There are two support groups held at the cancer center. One group is designed for patients only. The meeting time for the patient group is every Thursday beginning at 2:15 p.m. at the center. The other group focuses on caregivers and families. This group meets Wednesdays from 2:15 to 3:15 p.m., also at the center.

The purpose of these groups is to provide support and encouragement to those affected by cancer. Participants engage in activities such as group discussion, scrap booking and journal writing.
