Area Crews On Scene at DuBois Fire

DuBois- Fire departments, police and other emergency responders are currently at the scene of a structure fire at Perkins Restaurant.

The fire appears to have destroyed the building.

Frenchville Man Pleads Guilty to Raping Four-Year-Old Girl 

CLEARFIELD – On Wednesday a Frenchville man was sentenced to 15-60 years in state prison after pleading guilty to raping a 4-year-old girl.

Sherman Graham, pleaded guilty to three counts of rape, three counts of burglary, flight to avoid apprehension and related charges. Graham must pay restitution and is prohibited from contact with any of the victim’s in the case, and is also prohibited from contacting any member of the 4-year-old girl’s family.

According to court records, on July 28, 2008 the 4-year-old girl told her mother how Graham had penetrated her. She later told police that Graham had vaginally and anally penetrated her. She also reported that Graham told her not to tell anyone or he would hurt her.

The woman confronted Graham who initially denied the claim. Reportedly he later admitted to her that he did what the girl claimed.

Area Man Dies as Result of Industrial Accident in DuBois 

DUBOIS – The DuBois City Police Department reported that an area man died as a result of an industrial accident.

According to the report the Allegheny County Medical Examiners Office confirmed late Monday afternoon that an area man died as a result of injuries suffered in an industrial accident along DuBois Street at the bridge project over Sandy Lick Creek.

No other information was provided.


Clearfield Hospital Confirms Bacterial Meningitis Case

CLEARFIELD – Clearfield Hospital today confirmed that its Emergency Department team evaluated a patient who has been subsequently diagnosed with bacterial meningitis.

The patient was seen in the Emergency Department late Sunday night and was later transferred to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh for specialized treatment.
Hospital officials immediately notified the state Department of Health, which in turn, launched an investigation and identified others the patient was in close contact with, including those at a daycare center.

Those at risk were asked to come to the Emergency Department so they could be evaluated and provided with preventative antibiotics. As of late last night, the hospital’s Emergency Department team had evaluated 64 patients.

Of those 64, one patient exhibited symptoms and was treated and transferred to Children’s Hospital as a precaution. The hospital has not received confirmation that this patient has bacterial meningitis.

Theft Reported at Clearfield Post Office

CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Borough Police Department is investigating a theft that occurred at the Clearfield Post Office.

According to police someone entered the post office in the early morning hours and removed about $30 from the copy machine in the main lobby. Police stated that the person accessed the lobby and copy machine without damaging either one.
