Philipsburg Man Arrested for Aggravated Assault

PHILIPSBURG – State police in Philipsburg have announced the arrest of a man accused of beating another man then stealing his wallet.

According to police the incident occurred on April 20 at around 4:30 a.m. on Belko Lane in Rush Township. Police stated that Michael Gene Beish, 31 of Philipsburg, approached a 23-year-old Philipsburg man who tried to enter his residence and struck him with a metal support post from a trampoline. Beish then allegedly forced his way into the other man’s residence and struck him several more times until the man lost consciousness.

Police said that when the 23-year-old man awoke he found his wallet, containing $372, missing.

Police noted that the 23-year-old suffered a large laceration and swelling on his right cheek area as well as a laceration on his right arm. He was treated and released from Clearfield Hospital.

On May 5 police arrested Beish. He was arraigned and placed in Centre County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 13 in Centre County.
