Farmers Market to Open at Farm Show Complex

Market Open Every Tuesday and Friday from May to November

HARRISBURG – Affordable, locally grown produce will return to the Farmers Open-Air Market at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex & Expo Center on Tuesday, May 5, said Agriculture Secretary Dennis Wolff today.

The market will be open from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. on every Tuesday and Friday until November.

“Pennsylvania’s farmers produce an abundance of affordable and nutritious food products,” said Wolff. “I encourage all Pennsylvanians to support our local farmers and boost the state’s economy by taking
advantage of these local products at the state’s more than 1,200 farmers markets and farm stands.”

New and returning vendors to the Farm Show Farmers Market offer a variety of fruits, vegetables, breads, cut flowers, and bedding plants for purchase.

While shopping at one of Pennsylvania’s farmers markets or farm stands, consumers should look for the PA Preferred label to help them know they have chosen food grown and processed in Pennsylvania.

The PA Preferred branding program was launched in January 2004 by Governor Edward G. Rendell to help market state-sourced food products. More than 2,000 members have enrolled to date.

The seven-month outdoor farmers market is located just off of North Cameron Street, along Industrial Drive, in the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex & Expo Center parking lot. For more information on the market, contact Market Manager Dick Habig at 717-697-9617.
