CLEARFIELD – Offices at Clearfield County’s Multi Service Center will soon be getting a security upgrade.
On Tuesday the Clearfield County Commissioners approved a budget transfer request in the amount of $20,000 to help put security guards and scanning equipment at the county’s facility on Leonard Street.
“We think it’s an excellent idea,” said Commissioner Chair Joan Robinson-McMillen. “It has been a long time coming.”
According to McMillen, the county has an extra metal detector that will be placed at the front door of the Multi-Service Center. A guard will also be stationed there. The county will use its current contingent of part-time security officers to man the position.
McMillen said that is a covered handicapped entrance at the building for those who need it. The door will be locked and a buzzer will have to be utilized, alerting the security officer that someone is there.
Employees will be urged to use the back entrance as an employee entrance.
For those groups utilizing the building at night, it will be up to them if they want security. If they do, it will also be there responsibility to pay for the service.
“Everyone will feel much more secure,” said McMillen.
