Annual Fishing Derby Draws Nearly 300 Kids from Across the Area

PENFIELD – Despite breaking from its usual occurrence on Saturday the fishing derby still received a turnout of around 300 kids, according to event coordinator Pat Domico’s estimates.

The winning child in each bracket received a rod and reel donated by the Wal-Mart Distribution Center. The child with the largest overall fish also got a 1880 New Orleans minted silver dollar and a $50 gift certificate from First Commonwealth Bank in Clearfield.

Winners were:

1 year old bracket – no one year olds reported any fish.

2 year old bracket – Bostom Graham of DuBois with a 15 inch fish.

3 year old bracket – Max Maines of Woodland with a 12.5 inch fish

4 year old bracket – Emma Middleton of Clearfield with a 15.25 inch fish.

5 year old bracket – Jason Stanko of Woodland with an 18 inch rainbow trout.

6 Year old bracket – Isaac Bloom of Clearfield with an 18 inch fish.

7 Year old bracket – Mason Warren of Curwensville with a 11.25 inch fish

8 Year old bracket saw a three way tie with 16 inch fish:

– Vanessa Roudybush of Penfield

– CJ Ellis of Curwensville

– Noah Bloom of Clearfield

9 Year old winners – Austin Palmer of DuBois with a 14.5 inch fish.

10 Year old winner – James Cunningham of Philipsburg with a 10 inch fish

11 Year old winner – Logan Wonderling of St. Mary’s with a 9.5 inch fish.

12 Year old winner – Liz Pruzinsky of Reynoldsville with a 15.25 inch fish.

13 Year old and Grand Winer – Brian “Jake” Knepp, Jr. of Bigler with 23 inch rainbow trout.
