PSP: Philipsburg Man Assaulted

PHILIPSBURG – The Philipsburg-based State Police has initiated an investigation into a reported aggravated assault that occurred at 4:30 a.m. Monday in Rush Township, Centre County.

According to the report, a known suspect approached and struck a 23-year-old Philipsburg man with a metal support post from a trampoline. Police said the suspect forced his way into the man’s residence and struck him several more times.

Police said after the assault, the man reportedly lost consciousness. They said he also later discovered that his wallet, which contained $372, had been stolen.

Police indicated that the man had a large laceration and swelling on the right cheek area of his face. He had another laceration on his right arm. He was treated and released from the Clearfield Hospital, according to the report.

Police said that the incident is still under investigation.
