CLEARFIELD – Scattered power outages occurred Monday as a result of the rain and wind that swept across the area.
According to Penelec Area Manager John Shimko, a substation transformer in Sykesville was damaged and failed around 8:40 Monday morning, interrupting service to approximately 1000 customers. A portable transformer was brought in from Johnstown. Substation crews connected the portable and restored power to all customers at 6:10 PM.
In another incident, a tree fell across power lines near Glasgow which interrupted service to 480 customers in the Blandburg and Glasgow areas around 9:15 Monday morning. Crews worked to remove the tree and repair 3 sections of downed wire, safely restoring service to those customers at 3:45 p.m.
Penelec thanks customers for their patience during restoration and cautions the public to stay clear of all downed wires as they may be energized and dangerous.
