Work Under Way on Clearfield Signals Upgrade

CLEARFIELD – Work began this week on PennDOT’s signals upgrade project in the Clearfield area. Crews will be working from the US Route 322/state Route153 intersection (Rockton Mountain) through Clearfield Borough to SR 879 at Interstate 80 exit 120 and to SR 970 at I-80 exit 123. Motorists can expect flaggers and minor delays along Routes 322, 153, 879 and 970.

Work includes upgrades and re-timing of all traffic signals along the corridor, new radio and camera systems to monitor traffic flows, a speed detection system on Route 322/153 eastbound entering Clearfield Borough and new signing.

This work will allow the timing of the signals to be temporarily re-set during I-80 detours through the Clearfield area, allowing detoured traffic to flow more smoothly. Job completion is expected by the end of August. Contractor on this $1.1 million project is Dixon Electric of Claysburg.

PennDOT reminds motorists to move through all work zones with caution, obey posted speed limits and always buckle up. For more information on roadway construction and maintenance operations, visit PennDOT’s Web site.
