CCRTA Announces Sopic’s Resignation

CLEARFIELD – At Wednesday’s regular meeting, board members of the Clearfield County Recreation and Tourism Authority, said farewell to recreation director Mark Sopic, who had previously offered his resignation.

Chairman Wilson Fisher said that Sopic’s resignation was effective on March 1.

He said that Sopic had an opportunity to return to the textile industry, where he has spent “most of his life.”

“He was very excited about the prospect,” Fisher said.

Sopic had joined the authority’s staff last February but was temporarily laid off at an October meeting due to the Curwensville Lake and Recreation Area’s tight budget constraints.

Sopic, however, was still permitted to work approximately 30 hours each month. His layoff was then set to run from Nov. 7, 2008 – March 7.
