PIKE TOWNSHIP – State police in Clearfield reported that state Route 879 has reopened after it was closed earlier today due to an overturned propane tanker.
According to police that accident occurred at 3:07 a.m. Traffic was rerouted to SR 729 to SR 969 to SR 453 to SR 879. Due to the overturned tanker a precautionary evacuation took place. Clearfield County Emergency Management Agency personnel as well as various emergency medical service providers were on-scene. The Clearfield-Jefferson Chapter of the American Red Cross responded to the propaaccident scene on SR 879 and provided food and shelter for those people who had to evacuate from their homes. The chapter also provided refreshments for the emergency responders at the scene.
The road reopened this morning at 8:06 a.m.
