CCCTC Students Take Part in State Conference

CLEARFIELD – Sixteen members of Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA), an association of marketing students, at Clearfield County Career and Technology Center participated in the 57th annual state career development conference at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center from Feb. 18-20.

Diana Portugal, a senior at Philipsburg-Osceola, won second place in the Creative Marketing Project and will represent Pennsylvania DECA at the International DECA Career Development Conference in Anaheim, California, from April 29 – May 2. Diana’s project goals included spreading awareness of cerebral palsy to high school students around the nation. Diana is the daughter of Sue and Joe Portugal. Randie Fetzer, a senior at West Branch, who was an integral part of this project from the beginning, will be assisting Diana at the international conference.

Danielle Coover, a junior at Philipsburg-Osceola, won seventh place in the state for the hotel and lodging event. Rodney Thompson, DECA Advisor, commented, “Receiving seventh place in this event is a great accomplishment based on the number of participants who are from the top of their academic classes throughout the state. I’m very proud of the students for their accomplishments.”
