Eleven Bison Wrestlers Headed to Altoona for Northwest AAA Regional

ALTOONA – Head Coach Jeff Aveni and his staff will try and get as many Bison wrestlers through the next step on the way to Hershey, as the Bisons head to Altoona Area High School on Friday and Saturday for the Northwest Regional Championships.

Joining the top three finishers from District 9 in Altoona will be the top four place winners from District 10, the top three from District 6, and the top two from District 8. The gold, silver, and bronze medalists from Altoona will advance to Hershey for the PIAA AAA State Wrestling Championships.

All district champions receive a bye and advance to the quarterfinals in the 12 man brackets. Wrestlers will “clear the mats” and begin round one at 5:00 p.m. Friday. Quarter finals will commence immediately thereafter at approximately 7:15 p.m. The semis are set for Saturday at noon, with the finals right after the “parade of champions” at 6:30 p.m.

130 – Holden Lowe (34-5) will face winner of Rodney Culberson (12-8), Carrick and Jake Schultz (27-8), Lewistown

140 – Shane Harper (14-20) vs. Garrett Chase (9-12), Erie Prep

145 – Derek Danver (33-6) will face winner of Shane Alterio (25-6), Bellefonte and Curt DeLatre (23-9), Warren

160 – Shawn Hall (24-9) vs. Dalton Lester (13-10), General McLane

189 – Cliff Hill (11-22) vs. Jacob Bachman (34-9), Central Mountain

215 – Andre Buck (22-16) will face winner of Glenn Barnes (33-9), Central Mountain and Aaron Bell (26-5)

285 – Sean Owen (36-0) will face winner of Caleb Baker (35-7), General McLane and Shay Ceglar (8-5), State College
