Winslow Township Tax Collector Charged with Theft in Two Cases

REYOLDSVILLE – State police in DuBois reported that charges have been filed against the current Winslow Township Tax Collector for allegedly taking funds from the Winslow Township tax account.

According to police Jodee Hanzely has been charged with 95 counts of theft by unlawful taking, 95 counts of theft by deception, 95 counts of receiving stolen property and 95 counts of theft by failure to make required disposition of funds.

Police stated that between February 2004 and January 2007 Hanzely allegedly took $57,635 for her own use.

Hanzely was also charged in another case. Police alleged that Hanzely, a former officer for the CG Johnson Elementary PTA, removed $31,600 for her own use from the PTA account. The time period for that case is also February 2004 through January 2007.

In that case Hanzely is charged with five counts of theft by unlawful taking, five counts of theft by deception, five counts of receiving stolen property and five counts of theft by failure to make required disposition of funds.

Hanzely was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge David Inzana for both cases on Feb. 19.

Police stated that in both cases Hanzely paid the money back in full.
